Meet the Reteti Keepers

The Samburu have been living alongside wildlife for thousands of years and have deep respect for elephants with whom they share the land and its resources.

All of Reteti’s elephant keepers and staff are Samburu and are all recruited from within Namunyak Conservancy. The keepers have been formally trained in the care, rehabilitation and release of elephant calves.

Manager

Peter took the helm as the Manager of Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in 2022. With an unwavering dedication to wildlife preservation, Peter earned his Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Management from The University of Eldoret, fueling his passion for conservation.

Prior to his role at Reteti, Peter served as a knowledgeable guide at Sarara Camps and played a pivotal role as the Kids Camp Coordinator for Ewaso Lions in early 2017. As an exciting new chapter unfolds, Peter is eagerly anticipating becoming a proud father of two. Peter is from Sereolipi in Namunyak Conservancy.
