Long’uro’s Party
It was an unusual gathering. On the menu was rice, chapati, mutton, assorted vegetables, fruits and soft drinks to wash down the sumptuous and filling meal.
The keepers’ party went on for hours, periodically punctuated by the all-important duty of tending and feeding 'the babies'.
The occasion? - celebrating Long’uro.
Now bubbly, bouncy and sometimes boisterous, he has weathered countless storms and demonstrated unrivalled resilience in his fight for survival. The keepers proudly discuss him. A great deal of effort has gone into rehabilitating Long’uro. His physical wounds completely healed and hopefully his internal ones too, it is worth celebrating him and his optimistic and intrepid shot at life.
He has taught us a lot and we are grateful for that, he has remained strong and brave and has not allowed his disability get him down. Day by day we’ve grown easy to gain his trust and began walking with him very closely, sleeping alongside him-doing all the things to see him through all his endeavours.
So - with a gift from Reteti supporter Geri Bauer, we threw a party for him and the keepers who have been working tirelessly to ensure his wellbeing.
Long’uro steps in with his group to cut the cake at his party!
Here, Long’uro just stepped-in with his group to cut the cake at his party, which was well earned by the keepers who have been working tirelessly to ensure his wellbeing.
He’s has grown increasingly fond of Mary and we are sure he’s going to get all the motherly love he requires. He is constantly playing with his brothers and sisters in the nursery herd and fills the keeper’s hearts with joy when we see him growing day by day.
We can only hope that better things fall together.
