What is the #RetetiRun about?

At Reteti, we absolutely cherish our moments of walking together as a herd through the bush and engaging in friendly races for milk bottles.

These experiences not only bring us joy but also remind us of the vital significance of safeguarding our environment.

As we approach World Environment Day and Global Running Day, we invite you to be a part of our celebration, embracing both our stunning surroundings and the freedom of movement.

At the #RetetiRun, it doesn't matter how far you walk or run, what matters is the shared spirit of unity and love for our planet.

Let’s answer some frequently asked questions!

・ #RetetiRun kicks off on Monday 5 June 2023, which is World Environment Day.
・ Global Running Day is on Wednesday 7 June 2023
・ #RetetiRun will end on Sunday 11 June 2023
・ You can either run or walk the distance you signed up for.
・ For now we’re only choosing running or walking, as it is activities that the Reteti keepers and herd participate in.
・ You can choose whether you want to do the distance you signed up for, in one day, or spread it over 7 days. It’s entirely up to you!
・ Oh dear, so sorry! The easiest way to get a new bib, is to complete the sign-up form again.
・ Yes, of course! The best and easiest way to do so, is to fill out the sign-up form again, this time with the new distance you’d like to run or walk.

The Reteti herd (and keepers) remind us daily of the power of community. Being part of a herd has so many benefits including social support, protection, knowledge and resource sharing.

The connections formed by the Reteti orphans are a testament to how we all are able to connect, care and support each other - even if we are from different herds in the world.

We hope that this inspires you to create Herd Movements around the world to bring people together, to connect, to support and to bring about change.

What is Global Running Day?

Global Running Day is a worldwide celebration of running that encourages everyone to get moving. It doesn't matter how fast you run or how far you go. The important thing is that you get out, have fun being active, and inspire others to join you!
